 SUPER 14 ROUND 3

ADDED FRIDAY 29/02/2008

Super Rugby Round 3 already,  my how time flies by.  To date I see two clear pack leaders,  both from across that ditch,  some that can make the finals but just need to adjust some structure,  and some that are definite bottom finishers for 2008.  I see the African sides really struggling with the new laws,  and we may see none of them in the top four come season end.

This afternoon,  I am going to tip the Chiefs away form home over the Canes,  that really need to learn to hold the footy.  The Reds should have done them last week,  especially after leading for so long.

Tomorrow I think the Force will get the Lions,  and the Crusaders could pile another big score on against the Stormers.  I'm going for the Waratahs to win in the hardest place in the world to win,  Dunedin,  as much as I hate to say it I think the Brumbies will do the Reds in Canberra,  another big win coming up for the Blues and I'll go with the Sharks over the Bulls in the replay of the final.

On NSW,  should have said it last week,  I thought Beale did some marvelous things last week,  and as he strings these things together for longer periods,  he will be a lethal weapon.  I am sure his defence will improve.  Tahu needs to see more pill in his mitts,  and I hope that Todd Louden and co have got that planned and under control,  I'm sure they have.

After watching pretty much two rounds of the Super 14,  I could not pick an Aussie front row that I would say would match up at international standard,  sad but true,  so have neglected to put a side up.

The find of the year after two rounds for mine looks to be Tyrone Smith.  Giteau would look to be firming for the 10 slot,  which will make 12 an interesting selection indeed.  Depends on what Robbie Deans wants,  but looking at his Crusaders teams over the years I warrant it will be a two or three first receiver selection policy in that backline.

In any case,  hopefully there are a couple of bolters and  change in direction under Deans,  time will tell.
